India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held discussions with his counterparts from several Gulf nations amid escalating regional tensions, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.
Dr. Jaishankar spoke with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to review the evolving situation in the Gulf. In a social media post, he expressed India’s concern over the rising instability and appreciated the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Indian community residing there.
The External Affairs Minister also held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, discussing the ongoing developments and underlining India’s strong interest in regional peace and the safety of its nationals.
In addition, Dr. Jaishankar spoke with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, who briefed him on the latest situation in Qatar. Jaishankar said he valued the assurances provided regarding the well-being of the Indian community.
He also exchanged views with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, stating that the developments in the region are clearly a matter of concern. The Bahraini leadership assured India that necessary measures would be taken to safeguard Indian nationals.
Furthermore, Dr. Jaishankar spoke with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, who briefed him on the current situation in Kuwait. The Indian minister reiterated India’s concern over the escalation and welcomed assurances regarding the safety of the Indian community.
The series of diplomatic engagements reflects India’s proactive outreach to Gulf partners during a period of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, with a clear focus on protecting its citizens and advocating peaceful resolution of tensions.
