Panic gripped the Abohar region after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire on former sarpanch Jagmandeep Singh, popularly known as “Minku” Kundal, in an attempted murder attack.
The incident occurred when he was attending a wedding function in Ratta Tibba village near Abohar. According to initial reports, the attackers fired multiple rounds at his vehicle. However, Jagmandeep Singh was traveling in a bulletproof vehicle, which prevented any casualties and ensured his safety.
Sources claim that he had been receiving threats from gangster Arju Bishnoi for some time. A few days earlier, another attempt to target him was reportedly made in Kular village, raising concerns about his security arrangements.
It is noteworthy that his wife recently won elections from the Zila Parishad Zone Kundal, bringing the family’s political activities into the spotlight.
Police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the area. Security measures in the region have been tightened following the attack. Authorities have assured that the accused will be identified and strict legal action will be taken soon.
