In a shocking late-night incident, bike-borne assailants open fire at a doctor’s residence in the Santoshpura area of Jalandhar. The attack also targeted a car parked outside the house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the doctor and his family were inside at the time of the incident.
According to reports, the firing occurred at approximately 1:40 am. Two youths arrived on a motorcycle and first fired at a car parked outside the residence. They then allegedly fired nearly 10 rounds at the house before fleeing the scene.
The entire incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which reportedly show three suspects. The footage is now being examined as part of the investigation.
Upon receiving information about the incident, ACP Jayant Puri reached the spot along with a police team and initiated a probe. Police recovered empty bullet shells from the crime scene. An FIR has been registered based on the family’s statement.
Preliminary investigation has not revealed any evidence of extortion or prior enmity. Local councillor Rajesh Thakur stated that he received a call from the doctor around 2:00 am, after which he informed the police. He added that the matter has been brought to the attention of the Police Commissioner and assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those involved.
