Yogi Adityanath Orders Dedicated Buildings for All Anganwadi Centres in UP

Yogi Orders Buildings for All UP Anganwadis

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to ensure that all Anganwadi centres in the state operate from their own dedicated buildings.

Emphasising the importance of early childhood care and education, the Chief Minister noted that Anganwadi centres cater to children aged 3 to 6 years and also function as pre-primary education spaces. He stressed the need for child-friendly infrastructure, high-quality learning arrangements, and attractive building designs to create a safe and engaging environment for young children.

According to a statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh government, more than 1.89 lakh Anganwadi centres are currently operational across the state. However, nearly 76,000 centres are still functioning without their own buildings, highlighting a major infrastructure gap.

Adityanath suggested that construction of new buildings could be supported through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with the state government extending financial assistance wherever required. He also recommended exploring prefabricated construction models to accelerate the development process and directed officials to prepare a standardised building design along with a detailed implementation roadmap.

The Chief Minister further instructed that, wherever feasible, new Anganwadi centres should be constructed within the premises of primary schools. This move aims to enable integrated delivery of education, nutrition, and health services at a single location, improving efficiency and accessibility.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Yogi Adityanath said that providing safe, clean, and modern facilities for children, pregnant women, and the community remains a top priority for the state administration.
