PM Narendra Modi Calls for Technology-Led Governance, Says Reforms Must Deliver Ground Impact

PM Narendra Modi Pushes Tech-Driven Reforms for Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is riding on the “Reform Express,” driven by simplified processes, improved Ease of Doing Business, and expanding technology-led governance. He stressed that reforms must go beyond policy announcements and focus on excellence in delivery to maintain momentum.

Addressing a Post Budget Webinar on “Technology, Reforms and Finance for Viksit Bharat” via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said reforms should be judged not by intent but by their real impact on the ground. He underlined the importance of transparency, speed, and accountability through extensive use of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and data analytics in governance systems.

Highlighting the government’s infrastructure push over the past decade, Modi said India’s long-term development depends on building strong foundational assets such as highways, railways, ports, digital networks, and power systems. He emphasized that these assets will enhance productivity for decades to come, which is why public capital expenditure has been consistently increased.

The Prime Minister noted that while only ₹2 lakh crore was allocated for capital expenditure 11 years ago, the latest Union Budget of India has increased the allocation to over ₹12 lakh crore, marking a significant rise in infrastructure investment.

He also remarked that the national Budget is often assessed on limited parameters such as stock market movements or income tax proposals. However, he clarified that the Budget is not a short-term trading document but a long-term policy roadmap. Therefore, its effectiveness should be evaluated on substantive and structural outcomes.

Calling for collaborative governance, Modi urged that such webinars must evolve beyond idea-sharing platforms and become true brainstorming exercises. He said when industry leaders, academia, analysts, and policymakers think together, the implementation of schemes improves and delivers more accurate and impactful results.

The Prime Minister reiterated that sustained reforms, technological innovation, and strong financial planning will be key drivers in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation under the vision of Viksit Bharat.
