Celebrated lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar praised the film, describing it as “deeply emotional and impactful.” He said the movie directly attacks the regressive mindset prevalent in society and addresses critical questions with honesty.
Akhtar termed Assi a sharp commentary on contemporary social attitudes and admitted that the film moved him profoundly.
Ranveer Brar Appreciates Visual Strength
Celebrity chef and television personality Ranveer Brar also lauded the film, calling it visually strong and thought-provoking. According to him, every aspect of the film has been crafted in a way that encourages viewers to reflect on pressing social issues.
Assi Box Office Collection
On its opening day, Assi earned ₹1 crore. Over the next two days, it collected ₹3.20 crore, taking its first-week total to ₹4.20 crore. However, collections witnessed a sharp decline afterward.
So far, the film has grossed ₹6.30 crore against a reported budget of ₹30 crore. Trade experts believe limited promotions and the absence of major commercial star power may have affected its box office performance.
Despite its slow earnings, Assi continues to win praise for its bold storytelling and socially relevant message.
