BJP Delegation Meets Governor Over AI Impact Summit 2026 Controversy, Seeks High-Level Probe

BJP Flags AI Summit 2026 Issue to Governor

A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur met Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan and submitted a detailed memorandum regarding the AI Impact Summit 2026 controversy.

The BJP delegation alleged interference in the lawful action of Delhi Police and accused the state government of politically misusing the police machinery.

Allegations Over AI Impact Summit 2026

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Jairam Thakur said that the AI Impact Summit 2026, organized in Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, elevated India’s global reputation. The summit witnessed participation from over 20 countries, including heads of state and leading global technology firms.

However, he alleged that Youth Congress leaders staged a semi-nude protest during the summit, attempting to tarnish India’s image internationally. Thakur further claimed that the protest was carried out under the directions of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

Arrests and Police Action

Thakur stated that an FIR was registered in Delhi in connection with the incident, following which Delhi Police initiated legal proceedings. He alleged that some accused Youth Congress leaders were given shelter in Himachal Sadan and claimed that room bookings were made through the Chief Minister’s Office.

According to him, when Delhi Police traced certain accused to Himachal Pradesh, they conducted a raid at a hotel in Chanshal Valley, Rohru, and arrested individuals identified as Saurabh Singh (Amethi, Uttar Pradesh), Arwaz (Kanpur), and Siddharth (Madhya Pradesh).

He questioned how individuals with no permanent links to Himachal Pradesh reached the state and whether they were provided political protection and government resources.

Allegations of Obstruction

Jairam Thakur further alleged that when Delhi Police reached Dharampur, they were unlawfully stopped and an FIR was registered against them at 8:11 PM on charges of abduction, despite possessing legal documents, seizure reports, and court orders.

Even after being granted transit remand by a magistrate, Delhi Police reportedly faced obstruction, and attempts were made to seize their vehicle. Thakur described the nearly 24-hour standoff as a “direct attack on the federal structure,” stating that it put the police forces of two states in confrontation.

Demand for High-Level Investigation

The BJP delegation urged the Governor to recommend a high-level probe through the central government. They demanded an independent investigation into the role of the Chief Minister’s Office and strict action against officials or political figures found guilty of providing protection.

Thakur stated that the issue concerns not just an arrest but also India’s international reputation and the rule of law.

Several BJP leaders, including MLAs and former ministers, were part of the delegation.
