Three Arrested in Attempt to Murder Case in Kumarsain, Shimla

3 Held in Kumarsain Assault Case

The Shimla District Police have arrested three accused in connection with a serious assault case registered at Kumarsain Police Station.

The case was registered as FIR No. 70/2025 dated 07.12.2025 under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 117(2), 109, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (equivalent to Sections 307, 341, 323, 34 IPC). The complaint was lodged by Leela Singh Mehto (52), a resident of Dehradun, currently residing in Bithal, Kumarsain, Shimla district.

According to the complaint, on the night of December 6, 2025, at around 11:30 pm, his son Everest Singh Mehto was returning from a wedding ceremony in Bithal along with his friend Abhishek. When they reached Kali Mitti near the Tata Motors workshop in Bithal, a group of individuals allegedly stopped them without provocation and assaulted them.

During the attack, Everest Singh Mehto sustained a head injury and was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital Rampur for medical treatment.

Considering the gravity of the case, Kumarsain Police conducted a detailed investigation based on available evidence and, on February 24, 2026, arrested three accused persons. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Deepak (20), originally from Nepal, currently residing in the Bithal area of Shimla district.
  • Anil (23), originally from Nepal, presently living in Bithal, Kumarsain.
  • Ankush (18), originally from Nepal, currently residing in Bhadras, Tehsil Rampur, Shimla district.

The accused will be produced before the competent court, and further investigation in the matter is ongoing.

Reiterating its commitment to public safety, Shimla District Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate in maintaining law and order and to report any suspicious or unlawful activity to the nearest police station or emergency helpline. Authorities emphasized that community cooperation is essential to ensure a safe and peaceful environment.
