The Delhi government has announced that widow pension beneficiaries and persons with disabilities receiving government pensions will now be covered under the Pradhan Mantri PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), significantly expanding healthcare access for vulnerable groups.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that more than 3.90 lakh widow pension beneficiaries and around 1.31 lakh beneficiaries under the disability pension scheme will directly benefit from the move.
With this decision, nearly 5.5 lakh additional families in Delhi will come under comprehensive health security coverage. The inclusion aims to strengthen financial protection against medical expenses for economically weaker sections.
Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that the decision goes beyond administrative action and represents a commitment to safeguarding the health and dignity of every needy family in the national capital.
The expansion of PMJAY coverage is expected to provide cashless treatment benefits at empaneled hospitals, ensuring improved healthcare accessibility for thousands of vulnerable residents.
