ECI Holds National Round Table Conference After 27 Years at Bharat Mandapam

ECI Round Table Meet After 27 Years in Delhi

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will organise the National Round Table Conference of ECI and State Election Commissioners today at Bharat Mandapam. The high-level conference is being held after a gap of 27 years, with the previous edition conducted in 1999.

The Round Table Conference will be chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the presence of Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

Participation from All States and UTs

State Election Commissioners from all states and Union Territories will participate in the conference along with their legal and technical experts. Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) from across the country will also attend the day-long deliberations.

Objective: Strengthening Electoral Processes

The primary objective of the Round Table Conference is to foster better coordination and synergy between the Election Commission and State Election Commissioners in managing electoral processes and logistics within their respective legal frameworks.

The deliberations aim to create a constructive platform for sharing best practices, exchanging ideas, and reinforcing cooperative federalism in electoral governance.

Focus on Technology and EVM Transparency

Key discussions will revolve around:

  • Sharing of technology
  • Use and management of EVMs
  • Electoral rolls integration
  • Strengthening electoral processes

Senior Commission officials will present major technological and operational initiatives, including the recently launched ECINET digital platform designed to streamline electoral services.

Presentations will also highlight the robustness, transparency, and multiple safeguards of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), reaffirming confidence in India’s electoral system.

The conference marks a significant step toward modernising electoral management and enhancing collaboration between central and state election bodies.
