US President Donald Trump’s top science adviser Michael Kratsios has described India as a “technology powerhouse” that is central to the White House’s global artificial intelligence (AI) strategy.
Speaking after returning from India, where he attended the India AI Impact Summit, Kratsios praised the country’s engineering strength and expanding innovation ecosystem. He noted that India graduates an incredible number of engineers every year, possesses deep domestic talent, and is increasingly building strong products and AI-driven applications.
India in US Global AI Strategy
Kratsios positioned India within a broader US strategy aimed at expanding what he called “real AI sovereignty” among partner nations. He emphasized that strengthening technological cooperation with trusted allies like India is key to maintaining leadership in emerging technologies.
He further highlighted that India has long been a strong partner in technology collaboration with the United States. American hyperscalers, he noted, have established major data centres and research operations in India, deepening integration within the American AI ecosystem.
Growing AI Collaboration
India’s growing role in AI development, supported by its vast engineering workforce and expanding startup ecosystem, has made it an important partner in global AI governance, research, and infrastructure development.
The remarks underscore the strategic importance of India-US technology ties as both nations seek to lead in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and next-generation innovation.
