Tata Steel Manufacturing Plant to Begin Operations in Ludhiana from March, Announces CM Bhagwant Mann

Tata Steel Plant to Start in Ludhiana in March

In a major boost to Punjab’s industrial sector, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that Tata Steel will begin operations at its new manufacturing plant in Ludhiana starting March.

The development is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem and generate thousands of employment opportunities for local youth.

Major Investment in Ludhiana

The announcement was made after a meeting between the Chief Minister and a senior delegation from Tata Steel, which included Ashish Anupam, Vice President (Long Products), along with other top representatives of the company.

CM Mann stated that the project reflects the growing confidence of global corporations in Punjab’s progressive industrial policies and strong governance framework.

High-Tech Steel Manufacturing Unit

Tata Steel, one of the world’s leading steel producers with an annual crude steel capacity of approximately 34 million tonnes, is setting up a 0.75 MTPA Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)-based steel-making unit near the High-Tech Valley in Ludhiana.

The project will also include a rebar mill, enhancing the company’s long products portfolio and strengthening its footprint in North India.

Employment and Economic Growth

The new plant is expected to create large-scale direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to economic growth in the region. Industry experts believe that the investment will further position Ludhiana as a key manufacturing hub in North India.

The Punjab government views this development as a milestone in its efforts to attract major industrial investments and accelerate economic progress in the state.

With operations set to commence in March, the Tata Steel Ludhiana plant marks a significant chapter in Punjab’s industrial expansion strategy.
