Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Announces ‘Meri Rasoi’ Scheme for 40 Lakh Families

After a key Cabinet meeting held in Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made major announcements outlining the government’s upcoming priorities, with a strong focus on public welfare.

The meeting was considered significant for policy decisions rather than routine administrative discussions. Addressing a press conference afterward, CM Mann reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare of common citizens.

Praise for Punjab Farmers

The Chief Minister praised Punjab’s farmers, stating that they are known for feeding the nation and stepping forward during every crisis. He acknowledged their contribution to national food security and emphasized that the government is equally committed to supporting the people of the state.

‘Meri Rasoi’ Scheme Announced

In a major welfare move, CM Mann announced the launch of the Meri Rasoi Scheme. Under this initiative, nearly 40 lakh families across Punjab will receive specially prepared food kits.

The scheme is specifically designed for Blue Card holder families to provide relief to economically weaker sections of society.

What Will Be Included in the Food Kit?

Providing detailed information, the Chief Minister stated that each kit will include:

  • Wheat
  • 2 kg black gram (maah chana dal)
  • 2 kg sugar
  • 1 kg pure salt
  • 200 grams turmeric
  • 1 litre mustard oil

The inclusion of mustard oil ensures daily cooking needs are addressed, making the kit practical and beneficial for households.

Focus on Strengthening Kitchens, Not Just Ration

According to CM Mann, the objective of the scheme is not merely to distribute ration but to strengthen the kitchens of needy families. He assured that the government will ensure transparent delivery so that every eligible beneficiary receives the support without discrimination.

During the press conference, the Chief Minister reiterated that the trust placed in the government by the people of Punjab must be upheld. He also indicated that more public welfare schemes will be implemented in the near future.

The Meri Rasoi Scheme is being seen as one of the Punjab government’s major pro-people initiatives aimed at strengthening food security and supporting vulnerable households.
