Punjab Govt Announces ₹1 Crore Ex-Gratia for Two Policemen Found Dead Near Indo-Pak Border

₹1 Cr Ex-Gratia for 2 Punjab Cops Found Dead

Two Punjab Police personnel were found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Adiyan check post near the India-Pakistan border on Sunday. Both officers had sustained bullet injuries on their bodies, triggering shock and concern in the region.

The deceased have been identified as ASI Gurnam Singh and PHG Ashok Kumar, who were posted at the border check post at the time of the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and paid tribute to the martyrs through a post on X (formerly Twitter). He saluted the bravery and supreme sacrifice of the two personnel who laid down their lives while on duty.

₹1 Crore Ex-Gratia Announced

The Chief Minister announced that the Punjab Government will provide an ex-gratia amount of ₹1 crore each to the families of the deceased policemen. In addition, HDFC Bank will provide an additional insurance cover of ₹1 crore each to the families.

In his statement, CM Mann said the government stands firmly with the families during this difficult time and will ensure all possible support.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, as the bodies were found in mysterious conditions with bullet wounds. Security agencies are probing the incident to determine the exact cause and whether any external involvement is suspected.

The tragic incident near the sensitive India-Pakistan border has once again highlighted the risks faced by security personnel while protecting the nation.
