In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India suffered a heavy 76-run defeat against South Africa in their Super 8 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last night.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa national cricket team posted a competitive total of 187 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a powerful knock from David Miller, who smashed 63 runs off just 35 balls. Tristan Stubbs provided crucial support with a quickfire 44 off 24 deliveries.

Chasing 188, the India national cricket team struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs. Shivam Dube was the top scorer for India with 42 runs, but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup.

For South Africa, Marco Jansen delivered a match-winning spell, claiming four wickets, while Keshav Maharaj chipped in with three wickets to dismantle the Indian batting order.

David Miller was named Player of the Match for his explosive half-century that laid the foundation for South Africa’s dominant win.

The defeat puts pressure on India as the race to the semifinals intensifies in the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
