Assam CM Inaugurates New Integrated Terminal at Guwahati Airport

Guwahati Airport New Terminal Opens Today

Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the new integrated terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport has commenced commercial operations from today, marking a significant milestone in Assam’s aviation infrastructure.

In a post on social media, the Chief Minister stated that the newly constructed terminal was developed with local participation and reflects Assam’s expanding role as a major gateway to the northeastern region and beyond.

Earlier, Mr Sarma shared visuals of the modern terminal, showcasing upgraded passenger amenities and advanced facilities. Officials noted that the integrated terminal is designed to substantially enhance passenger handling capacity and improve operational efficiency amid rising air traffic in the region.

Guwahati serves as the primary aviation hub of Northeast India. The airport connects the city with major domestic destinations across India and select international routes, playing a crucial role in boosting trade, tourism, and regional connectivity.

The launch of the new terminal is expected to further strengthen Assam’s position in India’s aviation growth story and support increasing passenger demand in the northeastern states.
