US President Donald Trump has said there is no change in the trade deal with India following a recent decision by the Supreme Court of the United States on tariffs. Emphasising that the agreement remains intact, Trump stated, “The India deal is on,” and described his relationship with India as “fantastic.”
The remarks were made during a news conference at the White House, hours after the Supreme Court struck down his sweeping tariff measures.
Earlier this month, President Trump had issued an Executive Order removing the 25 percent punitive tariffs imposed on India. Under the revised trade arrangement, Washington will now impose a reduced tariff of 18 percent on Indian goods, down from the earlier 25 percent rate.
The development signals continued economic engagement between the two countries despite legal and policy challenges surrounding tariff measures. Trade ties between India and the United States remain a key pillar of their broader strategic partnership.
