Gurcharan Singh Assumes Charge as PESCO Chairman in Chandigarh

Gurcharan Singh Takes Charge as PESCO Chief

In the presence of Punjab Cabinet Ministers Mohinder Bhagat, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Dr Balbir Singh, Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh (Retd) formally assumed charge as Chairman of the Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) on Tuesday.

The ministers congratulated Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh and expressed confidence that his administrative experience, disciplined background and dedication to the welfare of ex-servicemen would further strengthen the functioning of the corporation.

They reiterated that the Punjab Government remains committed to honouring the invaluable contribution of former soldiers to the nation and ensuring the welfare, rehabilitation and employment opportunities for ex-servicemen and their families.

Chairman’s Commitment

Thanking Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for reposing trust in him, Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh assured that he would discharge his responsibilities with dedication and integrity.

He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening welfare measures, employment avenues and support systems for ex-servicemen across the state.

Distinguished Military Background

Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh served in the Indian Army for 21 years and has extensive experience in counter-terrorism operations and jungle warfare. During his service, he held key leadership positions including Company Commander and Second-in-Command, gaining wide administrative and operational expertise.

After retirement, he has remained actively involved in social welfare initiatives and support programs for ex-servicemen.

The appointment is seen as a significant step toward reinforcing PESCO’s role in safeguarding the interests of Punjab’s veteran community.
