Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO distributed special incentive grants of ₹5 lakh each to unanimously elected village panchayats at his office in Jandiala Guru.
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s commitment to promoting unity and consensus in rural governance. Addressing panchayat representatives, the minister said the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had promised financial rewards to villages that elect their panchayats unanimously.
Villages in the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency that received the ₹5 lakh special grant include Surjan Singh Wala, Rakh Manawala, Wadala Dogra, Malkpur, Bhagwansar, Chohan, Mallian, Jhangi Sahib, Nijjarpura, Kohala, Mirachak, Kohatwind Musalmanan, Kot Hiyat, Jeevan Pandher, Shahpur Khurd, Charan Singh Wala, Raipur Khurd, Nangli, Navi Nangli, Nangli Khurd, Jalal, Usma, Dyalgarh, Palla, and Khabbe Rajputan.
Focus on Rural Development
Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized that the grants should be utilized transparently for essential infrastructure development, including streets, drainage systems, sanitation, drinking water facilities, and other basic amenities.
He further stated that the Punjab government is allocating a substantial budget for development works in the upcoming financial plan and assured that no village or city in the state will remain underdeveloped.
The minister highlighted that Punjab is among the leading states offering free education, free electricity, free healthcare services, and free travel benefits to eligible citizens.
Local leaders and panchayat representatives were present during the grant distribution ceremony.
