Allegations Surface Against Former Punjab DGP Over Dual Voter IDs in Two States

Ex Punjab DGP Faces Dual Voter ID Allegations

Former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammed Mustafa has landed in controversy after allegations surfaced that he possesses voter identity cards in two different states.

During a press conference in Saharanpur, Malerkotla resident Shamsuddin Chaudhary alleged that the former IPS officer has one voter registration in Ward No. 21 of Malerkotla, Punjab, and another in his ancestral village Hardakheri in Uttar Pradesh. He presented documents before the media, calling the matter a serious legal violation.

Chaudhary claimed that holding two voter ID cards in separate states constitutes a breach of election laws and termed it a “serious offence.” He also targeted the Indian National Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging inconsistency in raising concerns about voter fraud while ignoring such accusations within associated circles.

Demand for High-Level Probe

The complainant has demanded an impartial and high-level investigation into the matter. According to him, the controversy extends beyond the voter ID issue. He stated that he had previously submitted an important video related to the death of Mustafa’s son to Panchkula Police, and the case has reportedly reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Chaudhary further alleged that following these developments, he has been receiving death threats and is facing a defamation case filed against him in Saharanpur.

Complaint Submitted to SSP

Citing threats to his life, Shamsuddin Chaudhary submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Saharanpur, seeking police protection.

Police officials have stated that letters are being sent to the concerned election authorities to verify the voter ID allegations. They added that the request for security will be considered as per established rules and procedures.

The issue has sparked political reactions in both Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, with further developments expected following official verification and investigation.
