A special program on “Intergenerational Bonding” was organized today at the Prayas Bhawan of Government College under the aegis of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in Dharamshala. The event aimed to strengthen dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding between senior citizens and college students.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar attended the program as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized that in today’s time, meaningful communication and coordination between generations are extremely important. He noted that along with metropolitan areas, smaller towns also need to reinforce family and social values.
He described senior citizens’ experiences as a valuable treasure for society and encouraged young people to learn from them to shape their personalities and future paths. Highlighting the pressures of modern competitive life, he stressed the need to pay special attention to children’s behavior, values, and mental balance. He added that it is the collective responsibility of families, guardians, and society to provide proper guidance and a positive direction to the younger generation.
Vinay Kumar also appreciated the department’s efforts, stating that such initiatives help strengthen social harmony and promote respect between generations.
On the occasion, District Welfare Officer Sahil Mandla, Red Cross Society Secretary O.P. Sharma, Tehsil Welfare Officer Manjeet Sharma, Government College Dharamshala Principal Rakesh Pathania, along with a large number of students and senior citizens, participated in the program and shared their experiences.
The event successfully fostered meaningful interaction between youth and elders, reinforcing the importance of mutual respect and understanding in society.
