Grand Kavi Sammelan Held in Mandi During Shivratri Festival

Kavi Sammelan Marks Shivratri Festival in Mandi

On the auspicious occasion of the International Maha Shivaratri Festival, a grand multilingual Kavi Sammelan was organized in memory of Sahitya Chudamani Pandit Bhawanidutt Shastri at the auditorium of Sanskriti Sadan in Mandi, popularly known as Chhoti Kashi.

The literary event was organized by the Language and Culture Department. Divisional Commissioner Mandi, R.K. Purthi, attended as the chief guest, while District Language Officer Rewati Saini was present as a special guest.

The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, R.K. Purthi highlighted the importance of literature in shaping society and awakening collective consciousness. He stated that poetry serves as a powerful medium to express emotions, experiences, and social issues in a simple yet impactful manner. When blended with humor and satire, poetry becomes even more engaging and widely appreciated.

The event began with a captivating Mandayali Geeta recital by the Geeta Shreni Women’s Team. The stage was skillfully conducted by Pawan Chauhan.

A large number of literature enthusiasts attended the Kavi Sammelan. Prominent poets including Dr. Manohar Anmol, Harpinder Kaur, Rajendra Singh Thakur, Dr. P.C. Kaundal, Yashpal Singh Rathore, Surendra Mishra, Bhim Singh, Kusum, Dinesh Sood, Hari Priya, Pushpa Malhotra, Ratna, Niranjana, Kamna Malhotra, Umesh Sharma, Bharat Sharma, Jagdish Kapoor, Surendra Pal Vaidya, Uttam Chand Sharma, Latesh Kumar Sharma, Murari Sharma, Pawan Chauhan, Prakash Chand Dhiman, Archana Dhiman, Sarika Bohra, Nirmala Chandel, Savita Kumari, Paumila Thakur, Kiran Guleria, Vinod Guleria, Ved Kumar, Deep Kumar, Vidya Sharma, Champa Devi, Raghav Joshi, Jaya Vaidya, Harindra Malhotra, Jaya Kapoor, Nalini Vaidya, Sushma Kapoor, Champa Sharma, Prof. Rakesh Kapoor, Romita Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Daksha Upadhyay, Anil Mahant, R.K. Gupta, Babli Kumari, Sarita Sharma, Jitesh Sharma, Kuldeep Guleria and Bhupendra Singh Thakur mesmerized the audience with their poetic renditions.

Poems based on patriotism, social concerns, humor, satire, and contemporary themes received huge appreciation from the audience. The Shivratri special event beautifully emerged as a confluence of literature, culture, and devotion.
