Chaugan Ground Reflects Congress Govt Failures: Vipin Parmar

Vipin Parmar Slams Congress Over Pensioner Protest

Senior BJP leader, State BJP Vice President and MLA Vipin Parmar launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, stating that Shimla’s historic Chaugan Ground has become a mirror reflecting the failures of the present regime.

Parmar said that on the second day of the Budget Session, pensioners were compelled to take to the streets to safeguard their rights, which he termed a clear sign of the government’s insensitivity and administrative inertia. He added that it is shameful for any democratic government when those who dedicated their lives to public service are forced to protest for their legitimate dues.

Referring to the protest outside the Vidhan Sabha complex, Parmar said that the pensioners expressing dissent through the traditional ‘Nati’ dance was not merely a cultural act but a strong symbol of dissatisfaction against the system. When elderly pensioners are forced to protest publicly, it indicates that the governance machinery has become disconnected from public sentiment, he said.

The BJP leader accused the current Congress government of administrative laxity, financial mismanagement, and policy indecision. He alleged that repeated assurances are being given to pensioners, but there is a complete lack of political will to implement concrete decisions, especially regarding pending DA arrears and other financial benefits.

Parmar also expressed concern over the state’s financial health, claiming that development works have stalled and employees are frustrated. He questioned the government’s economic management, particularly reports suggesting that schemes like “Sahara Yojana” and subsidies on essential services such as electricity and water may be discontinued.

Raising the issue of RDG, Parmar sought clarity on the state government’s policy stance, pointing out what he described as contradictory positions taken by Congress in different states.

He further alleged that the Chief Minister is not giving due importance to constructive opposition or even concerns raised by ruling party legislators. According to Parmar, the lack of coordination and maturity in governance is creating confusion within the administrative framework.

Highlighting rising unemployment and growing dissatisfaction among employees and pensioners, Parmar warned that if the government fails to take timely and decisive steps, the BJP will launch a statewide agitation from the streets to the Assembly.

He asserted that the fight is not only for restoring pensioners’ rights but also for ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible governance in Himachal Pradesh.
