AAP Village Committee Member Held with 800 Liquor Bottles in Amritsar

In a major development under the Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party’s village committee has been arrested in Amritsar with a large quantity of illicit liquor.

Police arrested Resham Singh, a member of the AAP’s Village Defence Committee (Pind Bachao Committee), from Lopoke village in Amritsar. Around 800 bottles of country liquor were allegedly recovered from his vehicle during the operation.

An FIR has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway. The arrest comes as part of the ongoing crackdown on drugs and illegal liquor trade across the state.

Reacting to the incident, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in narcotics or illegal activities, irrespective of political affiliation. He emphasized that the government’s campaign against drugs will continue without bias.

The arrest has sparked political discussion in the region, as the accused was part of a committee formed to assist authorities in curbing illegal activities at the village level.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying enforcement measures under the state-wide anti-drug initiative.
