The district administration has implemented extensive security measures to ensure smooth law and order during the upcoming Assembly session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly starting February 16.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a high-level meeting to review preparedness and directed officials to maintain strict vigilance throughout the session. To streamline security management, the district administration has divided the city into five sectors, while the police department has created four security sectors for effective monitoring.
The identified administrative sectors include the Assembly complex area up to Assembly Chowk, Cecil Hotel to Ambedkar Chowk at Chaura Maidan, Cart Road to Kennedy Chowk to Chaura Maidan, Cart Road and CTO areas. Authorities will closely monitor these locations to prevent any disruption during the Assembly proceedings.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap emphasized strong coordination between district administration officials and police sector officers to ensure seamless execution of duties. All departments have been instructed to discharge their responsibilities efficiently. Special parking arrangements for government vehicles have also been put in place during the session.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh stated that the police department is fully prepared for the Assembly budget session. Adequate deployment of police personnel and Home Guards has been ensured, and all officers have been placed on high alert to avoid any security lapses.
Key officials present at the meeting included ADM Protocol Jyoti Rana, Additional SP Abhishek Dhiman, Commandant Padam Chand, SDM Shimla Rural Manjeet Sharma, and SDM Shimla Urban Oshin Sharma, among others.
Under the five-sector administrative plan, specific officers have been assigned responsibilities for designated areas, including the Assembly Complex, Ambedkar Chowk–Chaura Maidan stretch, Kennedy Chowk, Cart Road, Lift Bus Stand, 103 Crossing, and CTO. The coordinated approach aims to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth functioning of the Assembly session.
The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict security and seamless arrangements throughout the Himachal Pradesh Assembly proceedings.
