The Punjab Government’s flagship campaign “Sade Buzurg Sada Maan” received a major boost as a special medical camp was organized at Civil Hospital Ajnala to provide healthcare and social security benefits to senior citizens.
Aam Aadmi Party leader and Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal attended the camp as the chief guest. During the camp, over 400 elderly citizens were examined by specialist doctors, including the SMO of the hospital, and were provided free medicines.
Addressing the gathering, Dhaliwal said that elderly citizens are like the soothing shade of a banyan tree and a priceless treasure of society. He stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has launched the “Sade Buzurg Sada Maan” initiative to uplift the standard of living of senior citizens. He emphasized that the campaign is not merely a slogan but a firm commitment to ensure dignity, safety, healthcare, and social care for the elderly.
Dhaliwal criticized previous governments, including the Centre, alleging that senior citizens were neglected and treated as a burden. He informed that ₹7.86 crore has been allocated during the financial year 2025-26 to ensure the success of this special welfare initiative.
He further stated that apart from providing comprehensive free healthcare services, various departments are organizing camps to facilitate Senior Citizen Cards, old-age pensions, and other social security schemes under one roof.
Meanwhile, in Ward No. 7 of Ajnala town, a special camp was organized under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme to issue health insurance cards. Dhaliwal distributed health insurance cards to 120 beneficiaries. He claimed that the Punjab Government has achieved the distinction of providing up to ₹10 lakh free health insurance coverage to nearly 3 crore residents, making it one of the first governments globally to extend such large-scale benefits to its citizens.
He assured that no eligible citizen would be left out of the scheme and that the campaign to issue health cards will continue for the next three months. Even after that period, those who miss out will still be able to get their cards issued.
Several local leaders and dignitaries, including Khushpal Singh Dhaliwal, Gurjant Singh Sohi, Amit Aul, Bhatti Jaspal Singh Dhillon, Sunita Rani, Shiv Chahal, and others, were present on the occasion.
