Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ET Now Global Business Summit in New Delhi, highlighting that despite global challenges, India has witnessed a decade of unprecedented development. He noted that global pandemics, international tensions, wars, and supply chain disruptions marked the past ten years, yet India’s progress has remained strong.
Mr. Modi emphasized that India is “riding the Reform Express,” moving from the 11th largest economy to rapidly approaching the world’s third largest economy. He pointed to key reforms including next-generation GST, the creation of NITI Aayog, the abrogation of Article 370, the law against Triple Talaq, and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
The Prime Minister also highlighted recent reforms in ports, maritime, shipbuilding, labor laws, and rural employment initiatives, along with legislative measures such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and updates to the Waqf Act.
On technology, Mr. Modi said India’s growth has been driven by innovation, pointing to UPI and the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile trinity as examples of inclusive, citizen-focused initiatives. He added that India is confident in entering global trade deals and adapting to disruptions, particularly those arising from artificial intelligence, which he expects will bring revolutionary changes in the near future.
Mr. Modi concluded that while disruptions will continue to evolve, India is prepared to face them with robust systems and forward-looking reforms.
