2 Killed in Fatal Road Accident on Ropar-Balachaur Highway

2 Die in Ropar-Balachaur Highway Accident

A tragic road accident on the Ropar-Balachaur National Highway near Kangna पुल (bypass) claimed the lives of two labourers on Tuesday evening after a Scorpio SUV rammed into a tractor-trolley.

According to reports, the tractor-trolley was travelling from Rupnagar towards Nawanshahr carrying shuttering material. When it reached near Kangna Bridge, a Scorpio vehicle (PB-30-B-0070) coming from behind collided forcefully with the tractor.

The impact was so severe that two labourers sitting on the tractor’s mudguard were thrown onto the road and sustained critical injuries. Local residents immediately alerted authorities, and an ambulance from the National Highways Authority rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Balachaur. However, doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.

The deceased have been identified as Baljinder Singh alias Bunty (32), a resident of Nilkhowal village in Machhiwara, and Ramesh Kumar (34), a resident of Jatiwal village in Machhiwara.

The tractor driver, Jatinder Singh, survived the accident.

ASI Sanjeev Kumar of City Balachaur Police Station said that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Police are also searching for the accused involved in the incident.

The tragic mishap has left the families of the deceased in deep shock and mourning.
