Women’s Health, Job Camp Held in Amritsar

In a significant step towards women’s empowerment, a district-level awareness and employment camp focusing on women’s health, sanitation and job opportunities was organised at Saroop Rani Government College for Women.

The camp was conducted under the leadership of the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development in collaboration with the District Administration and the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises.

MLA Jeevanjot Kaur, who attended as the chief guest, addressed the gathering and highlighted various issues related to women’s health and hygiene. She also informed students about multiple government welfare schemes aimed at supporting women and encouraged them to take full advantage of these initiatives.

Several departments, including Social Security, Women and Child Development, Employment, Health, Social Justice and Empowerment, Agriculture, and the District Legal Services Authority, set up information stalls at the venue. An exhibition was also organised to create awareness about government schemes and services available for women.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 464 students registering for employment opportunities. Of these, 21 students received job offer letters on the spot, while 229 girls were shortlisted for various positions. Seventeen different companies participated in the camp to offer employment opportunities to young women.

District Child Protection Officer Ashish Inder Singh, District Programme Officer Gurmeet Singh, Deputy Director Teerthpal Singh, College Principal Kiranjeet Ball, Meena Devi, Maninder Singh and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The initiative marked a strong push toward empowering women through awareness, skill development and employment generation in the district.
