Former cricketer and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Harbhajan Singh on Thursday met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during the Budget Session to once again press for the opening of a PGI satellite centre in Talwara to improve healthcare facilities in the region.
Harbhajan Singh said he had earlier raised the issue of establishing a PGI satellite centre in Talwara in the Rajya Sabha. He emphasized that the proposed healthcare institution would not only benefit the people of Punjab but also residents of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Highlighting the need for advanced medical infrastructure in the area, the Rajya Sabha MP stated that access to quality healthcare remains a major concern for people in the border and hilly regions.
Harbhajan Singh reiterated that he will continue his efforts until a PGI satellite centre is established in Talwara. He said the move would significantly enhance medical services and reduce the burden on existing tertiary healthcare institutions.
The demand for a PGI satellite centre in Talwara has been gaining attention as it is expected to serve a large population across multiple states.
