CBI Hosts Cybercrime Conference in Delhi

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) concluded a two-day National Conference focused on tackling cyber-enabled frauds and dismantling the ecosystem supporting such crimes.

Held in New Delhi, the conference brought together senior officials, cybercrime experts, and enforcement agencies to deliberate on regulatory reforms, the use of artificial intelligence, and global cooperation in combating cybercrime.

In an official statement, the CBI said that participants discussed the emerging threat of “cyber slavery,” including the recruitment of victims into overseas scam operations. The need for preventive mechanisms, stronger international collaboration, and structured rehabilitation frameworks for victims was highlighted during the discussions.

The role of social media platforms, messaging applications, and digital intermediaries in facilitating online frauds was also examined. Delegates emphasized the importance of faster data sharing and improved coordination between service providers and law enforcement agencies to effectively curb cybercrime.

The conference concluded with the sharing of best practices from successful cybercrime investigations across the country. Demonstrations of AI-driven investigative tools were also conducted, showcasing how advanced technology can enhance investigative capabilities and improve inter-agency coordination.

Officials described the conference as a significant step toward strengthening India’s response to the rapidly evolving threat of cyber-enabled financial crimes.
