Uttar Pradesh UP Presents Record ₹9.12 Lakh Crore Budget for 2026-27

Uttar Pradesh Presents Record ₹9.12 Lakh Crore Budget for 2026-27

The Uttar Pradesh UP government on Tuesday tabled its largest-ever state budget in the legislative assembly, marking the final full financial plan of its second term. The total outlay stands at ₹9,12,696.35 crore, reflecting a 12.9 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

Presenting the budget, State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna stated that the financial blueprint prioritizes infrastructure expansion, women’s empowerment, youth skill development, farmer welfare, poverty reduction, and employment generation.

A significant portion of the allocation—nearly 25 percent—has been earmarked for infrastructure development. This includes investments in roads, expressways, power supply, irrigation projects, and urban development initiatives. The government has also emphasized balanced regional growth, with focused attention on historically underdeveloped regions such as Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.

In the social sector, 12.4 percent of the total budget has been allocated to education, while healthcare has received 6 percent. Agriculture and allied services account for 9 percent of the overall financial plan, underlining continued support for the farming community.

The government has also strengthened its push toward renewable energy and sustainable farming practices. An allocation of ₹1,500 crore has been made for the PM Kusum Yojana to promote solar energy in agriculture. Additionally, ₹637 crore has been set aside to help farmers replace diesel pump sets with solar-powered alternatives.

Rural development remains a key priority, with ₹25,500 crore allocated for village infrastructure and employment programs. A major share of this funding will support the Viksit Bharat Gram initiative and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MG-NREGA).

In a move to boost technological advancement, the government has also allocated ₹225 crore for the Uttar Pradesh AI Mission, signaling a push toward innovation and digital growth.

The record-breaking budget reflects the state’s focus on economic expansion, inclusive development, and long-term infrastructure growth.
