Punjabi Mother Language Day Event at Sarup Rani College

Punjabi Mother Language Day will be celebrated on February 19 at Sarup Rani Government Women’s College, Amritsar, with a seminar and poetry session aimed at promoting and preserving the Punjabi language.

The decision was taken during a meeting jointly organized by the Folklore Research Academy, Amritsar, and the Progressive Writers Association at Virsa Vihar. The meeting was chaired by Ramesh Yadav and Bhupinder Singh Sandhu.

The organizers informed that the event will be dedicated to late playwright Jatinder Singh Brar. The seminar will feature key speakers including Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep, General Secretary of the Progressive Writers Association Punjab, and Satnam Singh, Executive Editor of Rozana Ajit.

As part of the program, five teachers from different schools will be honored for their contribution to Punjabi language and education. On the same occasion, poet Sukhbir Singh Bhullar’s poetry collection Hawa Ch Latakde Pal will be formally released.

A special poetry gathering dedicated to the Punjabi mother tongue will also be held, featuring several noted poets. Prominent literary figures present during the preparatory meeting included Sukhbir Singh Bhullar, Harjit Singh Sarkaria, Kamal Gill, Dharvinder Singh Aulakh, Karamjit Kaur Jassal, Manjit Singh Dhaliwal, Jagroop Singh Emma, Harish Sabri, Jaswant Singh Randhawa, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur Sandhu, Balwinder Kaur Pandher, and Satish Jhingan.
