Demand to Celebrate Maha Shivratri at State Level in Punjab

Demand to Celebrate Maha Shivratri at State Level in Punjab

The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Sangharsh Committee has urged the Punjab government to celebrate the upcoming festival of Maha Shivratri at the state level. The committee warned that failure to meet this demand would result in statewide protests.

National President of the committee, Sachin Mehra, stated that the Punjab government organizes religious events of all communities at the state level, which is commendable. However, he alleged that not celebrating Maha Shivratri at the state level reflects discriminatory treatment towards the Hindu community.

He emphasized that Hindus would not tolerate this double standard and would consider it an insult to Lord Shiva. Mehra further warned that if the demand is ignored, the Hindu community will oppose Aam Aadmi Party candidates in every constituency during the upcoming Assembly elections.

The statement was made during an organizational meeting held at the residence of Naresh Singh Bhagat in Sharma Colony, Amritsar. During the meeting, efforts to strengthen Hindu–Sikh unity were highlighted, and Naresh Singh Bhagat was appointed as the head of the Amritsar Sikh Sangat.

Sagar and Deepak Arora were also present at the meeting.
