Under “Operation Prahar 2.0” and the ongoing “War Against Gangsters” campaign, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have exposed a major cross-border smuggling network involved in the illegal trafficking of weapons and narcotics.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams carried out a targeted operation that led to the arrest of five accused identified as Simranjit Singh alias Mannu, Molakdeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Sukhraj Singh alias Joga, and Sajan Singh alias Gursajan alias Ladda.
During the operation, police recovered six modern pistols, ten live cartridges, 115 grams of heroin, drug money amounting to approximately ₹11.90 lakh, and one vehicle used in the smuggling activities.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested individuals were actively connected to cross-border smuggling networks and were involved in the illegal movement of firearms and narcotics from across the international border. The recovered weapons also include foreign-made pistols, highlighting the seriousness of the operation.
A case has been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages, identify foreign handlers, and uncover the financial trail linked to the smuggling racket.
The Amritsar Commissionerate Police reaffirmed their commitment to continue strict action against gangsters, drug traffickers, and organized crime networks as part of their intensified security drive.
