Amritsar Police Bust International Drug Syndicate Linked to Pakistani Handlers, 7 Arrested with Heroin, Ice Drugs and Pistol

Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a major breakthrough against drug trafficking by dismantling an international narcotics network operated by Pakistani handlers, arresting 7 young men and seizing 4.75 kg heroin, 1 kg methamphetamine (ice drug), and a 9mm Glock pistol.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar revealed during a press conference that the drugs were smuggled from Pakistan into India and distributed through local modules coordinated via social media platforms. The operation targeted border areas in Amritsar Rural and Gurdaspur, key smuggling routes for the syndicate.

The arrests unfolded progressively: Jasbir and Jaspal were first apprehended, leading to Anmol, Harpreet, and Tarun. Subsequent raids nabbed Dawinder and Mandeep, recovering the ice drugs. Several accused, including Jasbir, had prior drug-related cases registered against them.

Commissioner Bhullar disclosed that one arrested youth had returned from Dubai about 18 months ago, where he established contacts with Pakistani traffickers. The entire smuggling and hawala money transactions were routed through Dubai, with plans to convert ice drugs into additional heroin.

Investigation continues, with expectations of further revelations in the coming days. Police hailed the operation as a significant success in curbing cross-border narcotics trade in the region.
