Amritsar Railway Overbridge Inaugurated by CM Mann

Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann officially opened the Amritsar Railway Overbridge on Monday at Sultanwind Link Road in Amritsar.. According to the Chief Minister, the new overbridge will reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity for residents and millions of devotees visiting the holy city.

Moreover, the Punjab Government completed the project at a lower cost than originally estimated.The Chief Minister said the government will use the savings for public welfare and development projects.

New Overbridge to Improve Traffic Flow

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the Amritsar Railway Overbridge on Sultanwind Link Road.

According to him, the overbridge will benefit both local residents and pilgrims. Every day, nearly 1.5 to 2 lakh devotees visit Sri Harmandir Sahib and other religious sites.

Previously, heavy traffic jams were common at the Sultanwind Junction and Taran Taran Road. Now, the new overbridge is expected to provide a permanent solution and improve traffic movement.

Project Completed Below Estimated Cost

The Chief Minister said the project’s estimated cost was ₹34.20 crore.

However, the government completed it for ₹22.68 crore. As a result, the state saved a significant amount of public money.

He added that the savings would be spent on additional development and public welfare projects.

The project measures 985 metres, including the approach road. The flyover itself is 725 metres long and 14 metres wide.

Eco-Friendly Features Added

The Amritsar Railway Overbridge also includes several eco-friendly features.

For example, the project has RCC drainage for rainwater. In addition, it includes a rainwater harvesting system.

These features are expected to improve water management and support sustainable infrastructure.

CM Highlights Education and Employment

During the event, the Chief Minister also spoke about education and employment.

He said the Punjab Government is providing government jobs through a transparent recruitment process.

Furthermore, he claimed Punjab has made significant progress in education. He added that students from government schools are succeeding in competitive examinations.

According to him, these achievements reflect the state’s education reforms.

Opposition Criticism and Flood Preparedness

The Chief Minister also responded to criticism from opposition parties.

He accused the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress and BJP of focusing on political allegations instead of public issues.

Meanwhile, he said the government has already prepared for possible floods.

Officials have strengthened vulnerable embankments and cleaned drains and canals. Additionally, authorities continue to monitor water management across the state.

He assured people that the government would maintain both water security and development work.
