Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): The Arms Smuggling Bust has been busted in a major police operation in Punjab. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested four individuals involved in cross-border illegal weapons trafficking. Moreover, officials recovered a large cache of modern pistols during the operation. The crackdown highlights rising concerns over organized crime networks operating across the international border.
Major Crackdown on Cross-Border Network
Police launched a targeted operation under the direction of senior officials to dismantle illegal arms supply chains. As a result, four accused were arrested from different locations in Punjab.
Furthermore, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were working on instructions from a foreign-based handler. They reportedly received weapon consignments through cross-border routes and supplied them to criminal elements in the region.
Huge Recovery of Weapons and Ammunition
During the operation, police recovered 10 advanced pistols along with live cartridges. The recovered arms include:

- 9mm Glock (Austria-made)
- Additional 9mm pistols
- Live ammunition rounds
In addition, authorities also seized two motorcycles used in the smuggling operation. Consequently, the Arms Smuggling Bust has been significantly disrupted.
Accused Identified in the Case
Police identified the arrested individuals as:
- Ravi Singh (33), village Mahawa, Amritsar
- Sharnbeer Singh alias Sunny (31), village Mahawa, Amritsar
- Manpreet Singh alias Mannu (21), Ferozepur
- Pippal Singh (22), Ferozepur
Importantly, officials confirmed that some accused already face earlier criminal cases, including attempt-to-murder charges and Arms Act violations.
Foreign Connection Under Investigation
According to initial findings, the accused were operating under instructions from an overseas-based smuggler. Moreover, they used border-adjacent villages as operational hubs due to easier access to smuggling routes.
Therefore, investigators are now tracing the wider supply chain. They aim to identify both the foreign handler and additional local associates linked to the Arms Smuggling Bust.

Authorities registered two FIRs under the Arms Act at:

- Police Station Maqboolpura
