Rohtak MLA Extortion Threat: ₹5 Crore Demand Sparks Probe

Rohtak MLA Extortion Threat Police Tighten Security

Haryana: The MLA Extortion Threat case has raised fresh security concerns in Haryana. Congress MLA Balram Dangi, who represents Meham, allegedly received a WhatsApp message demanding ₹5 crore and threatening his life.

According to police, the message was sent from a foreign number. Immediately, Dangi informed the authorities, who increased security around his residence and launched an investigation.

WhatsApp Message Warned of Further Violence

According to the complaint, the sender asked the MLA to arrange ₹5 crore within one week.

The message allegedly warned that earlier gunshots had targeted only the office windows. It further threatened that the next attack would target the MLA directly.

Threat Follows Earlier Firing Incident

The latest threat comes just days after armed men allegedly opened fire at Dangi’s office in Meham on the night of June 20.

Police said two masked men fired at the office windows before fleeing. Later, investigators linked a threatening message to the name of gangster Sumit alias Saimania, although the investigation into the claim remains ongoing.

Police Tighten Security and Continue Investigation

After receiving the complaint, police deployed additional security personnel outside the MLA’s residence and office.

Meanwhile, investigators are tracing the origin of the WhatsApp message, examining digital evidence, and identifying those responsible for the alleged extortion threat.

Political Leaders React

Congress leader Deepender Hooda criticized the law and order situation in Haryana following the incident. He urged the state government to provide enhanced security to Balram Dangi and his family.

Earlier, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda visited the firing site and demanded strict action against those responsible.

Police have already arrested one accused, identified as Aman, in connection with the earlier firing incident after an encounter. However, another suspect remains absconding, and efforts to locate him are continuing.

Security Remains a Priority

Following the Rohtak MLA Extortion Threat, police have stepped up security measures around the MLA’s residence and office. Officers continue to monitor the situation while gathering fresh evidence.

Furthermore, authorities have appealed to the public to share any information that could help the investigation. Police officials said they are treating the case with high priority and will take strict action against anyone found involved.
