Chandigarh: According to Kuldeep Dhaliwal, AAP Highlights Welfare Amid Anti-Drug Gains through the Punjab government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Dhaliwal said the Bhagwant Mann-led government remains committed to making Punjab drug-free and gangster-free.
He said the government has fought a sustained battle against these social evils over the past four-and-a-half years. Moreover, he stated that the campaign will continue until every drug trafficker and gangster is brought to justice.
Over 7,100 Alleged Drug Smugglers Arrested
Highlighting AAP Highlights Welfare Amid Anti-Drug Gains, Dhaliwal said Punjab Police registered 5,091 cases between March 1, 2025, and June 25, 2026.
During the same period, police arrested 7,105 alleged drug smugglers. He claimed police seized 3,103 kg of heroin and 831 kg of opium. They also recovered charas, ganja, cocaine, synthetic drugs, and other narcotics.
According to Dhaliwal, the operation also led to the recovery of ₹18.73 crore in alleged drug money.

Government Claims Strict Action Against Drug Networks
Dhaliwal said the Bhagwant Mann government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward drug trafficking. According to him, the administration has even demolished properties linked to major alleged drug smugglers.
Furthermore, he praised Punjab Police for carrying out continuous operations across the state to dismantle organized drug networks and strengthen law enforcement.
Demand for Anti-Drone Systems at Border
Dhaliwal also raised concerns over cross-border smuggling along Punjab’s 532-kilometre international border. He alleged that drugs and illegal weapons continue to enter the state through drones sent from Pakistan.
He said BSF personnel are performing their duties efficiently. However, he argued that the lack of advanced anti-drone technology remains a major challenge. Therefore, he urged the Central Government to install modern anti-drone systems along the border to stop illegal smuggling more effectively.

He said the government has provided financial assistance for women, 600 units of free electricity for households, health cards worth up to ₹10 lakh per family, and improved canal water supply for farmers.
