NPS Awareness Session for MSME Workforce in Amritsar

Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): The NPS Awareness Session for MSME Workforce organized by the Punjab Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Amritsar Zone, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and business representatives to discuss financial security and retirement planning for employees. The event was held in collaboration with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and Laghu Udyog Bharati, Amritsar.

The primary objective of the NPS Awareness Session for MSME Workforce was to create awareness about retirement planning, financial inclusion, and the long-term benefits of the National Pension System (NPS) for both employers and employees working in the MSME sector.

Industry Leaders Stress Employee Welfare

Welcoming the participants, Jaideep Singh, Convener of PHDCCI Amritsar Zone, highlighted the significant contribution of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to India’s economic growth. He emphasized the need to promote financial inclusion and long-term financial security for employees working in this vital sector.

Furthermore, he noted that employee welfare initiatives can strengthen businesses while improving workforce confidence and productivity.

Amit Kapoor, President of Laghu Udyog Bharati, Amritsar, also addressed the gathering. He stated that employee well-being and financial security are essential for sustainable business growth. According to him, organizations that invest in the future security of their workforce often achieve better long-term performance and stability.

PFRDA Explains NPS Benefits for MSMEs

A major highlight of the NPS Awareness Session for MSME Workforce was the detailed presentation delivered by Abhishek Dhiman, Assistant Manager at PFRDA.

During his presentation, Dhiman explained the key features of the National Pension System. He discussed the advantages available to both employers and employees under the scheme. In addition, he outlined tax incentives, investment flexibility, and the enrollment process.

He also explained how NPS can help employees build a retirement corpus while offering tax-saving opportunities. Moreover, he encouraged MSME owners to consider NPS as a practical and affordable financial security solution for their workforce.

Experts Highlight Financial Inclusion and Social Security

Punjab Trade Commission Member Sheetal Juneja stressed the importance of social security measures for employees in the MSME sector. She said financial inclusion remains a critical factor in strengthening the economic well-being of workers and their families.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Goyal, Vice President of Laghu Udyog Bharati, Amritsar, moderated the session. She highlighted the growing importance of financial planning in today’s changing economic environment. Furthermore, she encouraged employers and employees to take proactive steps toward securing their financial future.

The discussions focused on creating greater awareness about retirement planning and ensuring that workers have access to reliable social security mechanisms.

Concluding the event, Nipun Aggarwal, Co-Convener of PHDCCI Amritsar Zone, delivered the formal vote of thanks. He described NPS as an effective and affordable social security solution for the MSME sector.

According to Aggarwal, the National Pension System can improve employee well-being, strengthen workforce retention, and support sustainable business growth. Therefore, wider adoption of NPS could benefit both employers and employees across the sector.

The open house session was conducted by Sumit Kumar, Assistant Secretary of PHDCCI, who facilitated discussions and addressed participants’ queries regarding the National Pension System.
