Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): The Punjab government has launched a major welfare initiative to support the Christian community halls in Ajnala region of Amritsar district. Under this scheme, authorities have approved funds to construct community halls across multiple villages.
Moreover, Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann leads the government, which remains committed to inclusive development. He emphasized that the state is working continuously to improve the living standards of all communities under its “Rangla Punjab” vision.
₹15.25 Crore Approved for 61 Community Halls
Under the new initiative, the government has sanctioned ₹15.25 crore to construct 61 Christian community halls in 61 villages of the Ajnala constituency. Authorities will build each community hall at an estimated cost of ₹25 lakh.
Furthermore, Dhaliwal announced that officials have already distributed sanction letters to the respective gram panchayats. As a result, construction work will begin soon across the region.
Purpose of Community Halls Explained
The minister explained that these community halls will serve as dedicated spaces for social, cultural, and religious gatherings. In addition, people will use them for prayer meetings, weddings, and community discussions.
Consequently, the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families who previously had to rent private venues for such events. Therefore, the project is expected to provide long-term relief to local residents.
Government Focus on Inclusive Development
During the event, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal highlighted that the Punjab government focuses on ensuring equal development opportunities for all communities. Moreover, he said that the government is implementing various welfare schemes to uplift marginalized sections of society.
He also mentioned that earlier governments failed to ensure balanced development. In contrast, the current administration is focusing on transparency and direct benefit delivery.
Plans for Welfare Boards and Local Support
Dhaliwal further announced that the government has initiated the process of forming Christian Welfare Boards at district and constituency levels. These boards will include chairpersons, senior vice-chairpersons, and members to address community issues effectively.
In addition, he stated that these boards will help ensure that government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries without delay. As a result, administrative efficiency is expected to improve significantly.
Political Remarks and Future Outlook
The minister also expressed confidence in the future performance of the Aam Aadmi Party government. He claimed that the government would continue its development agenda and deliver strong results in upcoming elections.
However, he emphasized that the primary focus remains on public welfare and infrastructure development rather than political competition.
Conclusion
Overall, the Christian community halls in Ajnala Punjab grant initiative marks a significant step toward inclusive development in the state. Moreover, the ₹15.25 crore allocation highlights the government’s focus on social welfare and community infrastructure.
