Amritsar (Suraj Kamlesh): Amritsar Municipal Corporation has intensified its cleanliness campaign with strict enforcement action against commercial establishments. As a result, officials sealed several shops and imposed fines on vendors for violating sanitation rules. The move aims to strengthen the city’s waste management system and ensure cleaner public spaces. The Amritsar MC Seals Shops action was carried out under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Bikramjeet Singh Shergill. The Health Department of the Municipal Corporation conducted the operation to stop the growing problem of garbage dumping on public roads.
Strict Action Under Sanitation Drive
The MC Seals Shops was led by Medical Officer Health (MOH) Dr. Yogesh Arora. His team focused on commercial establishments that repeatedly violated cleanliness norms.
Furthermore, officials identified several shops that continued dumping waste on roads despite earlier warnings. Therefore, the corporation decided to take strict action against them.
Shops Sealed for Repeated Violations
During the operation, authorities sealed Chawla Fruit and Mahajan Fruit in the Rambagh area. Additionally, they sealed R.K. Foods located near Chowk Farid.
These establishments had already received warnings and penalties in the past. However, they continued to dispose of garbage on public roads. Consequently, the Municipal Corporation enforced sealing action under the Amritsar sanitation drive action.
Officials stated that earlier challans had been issued under Sections 323 and 343 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976. Despite repeated notices, the businesses failed to comply with waste disposal rules.
Fines Imposed on Food Vendors
In a separate enforcement action, officials issued fines of ₹20,000 each to Giani Lassi and Jiyan Lassi. They penalized these vendors for dumping garbage in public places and mismanaging waste disposal.
Moreover, the Municipal Corporation stated that such violations directly harm public health and the city’s cleanliness standards. Therefore, strict monitoring will continue across commercial areas.
MC Issues Strong Warning to Violators
Municipal officials emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility of all citizens. They clearly stated that dumping garbage on roads or public spaces will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In addition, shopkeepers, street vendors, and commercial units were advised to use separate dustbins. They were also instructed to properly segregate waste and dispose of it only through authorized Municipal Corporation channels.
Legal Action to Continue
The Municipal Corporation warned that repeat offenders will face strict action. This includes fines, sealing of premises, and further legal proceedings.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that similar drives will continue regularly across Amritsar. The goal is to strengthen sanitation enforcement and improve public hygiene standards.
Conclusion
The Amritsar MC Seals Shops action highlights the city administration’s strict stance on cleanliness violations.
