Chandigarh: The Punjab government changes transfer schedule for government employees and officers across the state. The administration also issued a fresh order to streamline the transfer process and improve administrative efficiency.
Now, employees can submit their transfer applications until June 14, 2026. The government has extended the deadline to give departments and staff more time to complete the process smoothly.
Government Extends Deadline for Applications
The state government extended the earlier deadline to ensure better management of employee transfers. Officials now allow all eligible employees to apply within the revised timeline.
However, authorities will not accept applications submitted after June 14 under the regular transfer cycle.
Special Cases Will Follow Separate Process
The government will handle urgent or special transfer cases separately after the deadline. At the same time, the Personnel Department will apply its guidelines issued on April 23, 2018 for such cases.
In addition, the competent authority will approve every special transfer before implementation.
Transfer Policy Covers All Employees
The transfer policy applies to all regular government employees in Punjab. According to the rules:
- Departments transfer Group A and Group B officers within 7 years
- Departments transfer Group C employees within 5 to 10 years
Punjab currently has around 3.5 lakh government employees, so this policy directly impacts a large workforce.
Revised Timeline for Transfers
Earlier, the government scheduled the transfer process between April 15, 2026 and May 30, 2026. Now, it has officially extended the timeline to June 14, 2026.
As a result, departments will now manage postings and staffing under the updated schedule.
Orders Sent to All Departments
The government has sent the revised instructions to all administrative units. These include department heads, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, sub-divisional magistrates, and boards and corporations.
The administration has directed all departments to implement the new schedule immediately.
Conclusion
Overall, the Punjab government changes transfer schedule to improve efficiency and transparency. The new order helps departments manage employee postings better and gives staff more time to apply under the revised system.
