Mandi Steps Up Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy

Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy in Mandi

Mandi (Kameshwar Sharma): The Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy received a major push in Mandi as district authorities intensified efforts to curb drug abuse and narcotics trafficking. The District-Level Narcotics Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee reviewed ongoing enforcement measures and awareness initiatives during a meeting chaired by Additional District Magistrate Dr. Madan Kumar at Kamaksha Hall, Police Lines Mandi.

Officials discussed strategies to strengthen anti-drug operations and increase public participation in the fight against substance abuse. They also reviewed the progress of various departments involved in prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation activities.

Authorities Strengthen Anti-Drug Measures

During the meeting, Dr. Madan Kumar directed all concerned departments to make the Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy more effective. He instructed officials to expand awareness campaigns and reach more young people through educational institutions.

Furthermore, he asked schools, colleges, and universities to conduct regular awareness programs highlighting the dangers of drug addiction. Authorities will also ensure that anti-drug committees remain active and engaged throughout the district.

Moreover, officials plan to organize special sports and youth engagement activities at the block level to encourage healthy lifestyles and discourage substance abuse.

Mandi Adopts Zero-Tolerance Approach

The administration confirmed that Mandi is implementing the state’s strict Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy in line with decisions taken during the seventh State-Level NCORD Committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

As a result, all departments are working together to eliminate the spread of narcotics, especially “Chitta,” which remains a major concern across Himachal Pradesh.

Officials emphasized that the campaign focuses not only on drug seizures but also on identifying and dismantling entire trafficking networks.

Walkathon and Awareness Campaigns Planned

To further strengthen public awareness, authorities will soon organize a district-level walkathon against drug abuse.

In addition, government departments will use digital screens installed at various public institutions to spread awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics.

Consequently, officials expect greater community participation in the Anti-Drug Drive with Zero Tolerance Policy and hope to encourage more citizens to support anti-drug initiatives.

Reward for Sharing Drug-Related Information

Authorities announced a reward of ₹20,000 for individuals who provide credible information about people involved in drug trafficking activities.

Importantly, officials assured residents that they will keep the identity of informants completely confidential.

Citizens can share information through email at dcmandi33@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at 9317221001.

Therefore, authorities urged residents to actively support law enforcement agencies in combating the drug menace.

Drug-Free Himachal App and Helplines Available

Officials also encouraged citizens to use the Drug Free Himachal mobile application for counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation support.

Additionally, residents can access help through dedicated anti-drug helpline numbers:

  • 1800-11-0031

  • 14446

These services aim to provide timely assistance to individuals and families affected by substance abuse.

149 NDPS Cases Registered in Five Months

Additional Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Verma presented enforcement statistics during the meeting.

According to official data, police registered 149 cases under the NDPS Act, 1985, between January 1 and May 31, 2026.

Furthermore, authorities arrested 206 accused persons, including 199 men and 7 women, during this period.

Officials also reviewed major drug seizures, financial investigations, and property attachment proceedings linked to narcotics trafficking.

Financial Investigations Continue

Investigators attached properties in four cases and continue attachment proceedings in two additional cases. As a result, authorities are targeting not only drug suppliers but also the financial networks that support illegal narcotics operations.

Collective Responsibility to Eliminate Drug Abuse
