Shivraj Singh Reviews Complaint System for Transparency

New Delhi: Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high-level meeting with senior officials from the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development ministries to strengthen the public grievance system. During the meeting, he stressed that government work must create visible change in people’s lives instead of remaining limited to files and paperwork. Therefore, he directed departments to establish a faster, transparent, and result-oriented mechanism. The Shivraj Singh Reviews Complaint System meeting followed key directions issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent Council of Ministers meeting.

Focus on Faster Benefits for Citizens

While reviewing the complaint system, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said common citizens should not struggle to receive government benefits.

He emphasized that farmers, rural residents, poor families, and beneficiaries must get timely support without running from one office to another.

Furthermore, he instructed officials to strengthen grievance redressal systems in departments linked to agriculture, rural development, land resources, and Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

Separate Teams to Monitor Complaints Daily

The minister pointed out that departments currently use separate complaint systems and portals. However, he said the government now needs a more effective and coordinated structure.

As a result, he instructed both ministries to create teams of at least 10 officers each. These teams will review public complaints, letters, portal reports, and issues raised by elected representatives every day.

Additionally, officials will closely monitor whether departments actually resolved public grievances on the ground.

Minister Warns Against Paper-Only Solutions

Shivraj Singh Chouhan clearly stated that departments should not merely show complaints as “resolved” on paper. Instead, officials must verify whether beneficiaries genuinely received financial support and scheme benefits. Moreover, he shared examples where phone verification exposed major gaps between official records and real implementation.

Therefore, he directed departments to identify regional issues, recurring complaints, and bottlenecks affecting welfare schemes.

Monthly Reviews to Ensure Accountability

The Union Minister announced that departments will conduct monthly reviews of the grievance redressal system. Normally, officials will hold these reviews on the first Monday of every month.

However, due to the busy Kharif season, June’s detailed review meeting will take place on the second Monday. Furthermore, Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed departments to simplify rules and procedures wherever beneficiaries face unnecessary hurdles in housing, agriculture, insurance, road, horticulture, and marketing schemes.

Government Pushes for Transparent Governance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized governance reforms and citizen-centric administration. Following this vision, Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged every department to identify internal weaknesses and improve transparency.

The initiative titled Big Push for Transparency as Shivraj Singh Reviews Complaint System aims to make welfare delivery more accountable, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
