Rain Brings Big Relief After Scorching Heat in Himachal

On Friday, light rain hit many areas. At the same time, cloud cover spread across the state and reduced temperatures.

Light Rain Recorded in Several Districts

Early morning rain affected Kangra. Residents in Sujanpur and Barsar areas of Hamirpur also saw light drizzle.

Clouds covered Shimla, Mandi, and nearby regions. This cloud cover reduced the heat intensity and improved local weather conditions.

As a result, people experienced relief after days of extreme temperatures.

IMD Issues Rain and Wind Alert

The India Meteorological Department issued a 48-hour weather alert. The department predicted rain, hailstorms, and strong winds in many districts.

It warned Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla under an orange alert. Other districts remained under a yellow alert.

Meteorologists also warned that winds may reach 50 km per hour. Therefore, authorities advised people to stay alert during outdoor activities.

Temperature Drops Across the State

Rain lowered temperatures by 2–3°C in several areas. This drop gave temporary relief from heatwave conditions.

The western disturbance will continue to affect weather for the next two days. After that, it will weaken around 24 May.

Heat also reached mid and high-altitude regions. This shows that the heatwave still affects large parts of the state.

In Shimla, the temperature reached 30.5°C. This remained above normal, but rain and clouds made conditions more comfortable.

Solan also recorded 36°C. However, cloudy weather reduced the impact of heat during the day.

Tourists and residents both welcomed the sudden weather change.

Temporary Relief Before Heat Returns
