Under the leadership of the District Child Safety Officer, a task force team conducted checks on school buses across Amritsar schools to ensure student safety. During the three-day campaign in the district, 50 buses from 09 schools were inspected, resulting in one bus being impounded and another challaned.
District Child Safety Officer Tarnjeet Singh stated that efforts to implement the Safe School Vehicle Policy are ongoing in collaboration with the Education and Police Departments, and will continue in the future. The checks focused on bus drivers, essential equipment, documents, and other facilities, with fog lights and reflectors installed on school vehicles to prevent accidents due to fog and poor visibility.
The Director of Social Security and Women & Child Development Department, Chandigarh, has issued instructions to enforce the policy statewide during increasing winter and foggy conditions for safe school vehicle operations, which are being followed as per government directives.
