Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar Police Bust Drug and Arms Smuggling Module, Seize Heroin and Pistols operation led to the arrest of a key accused involved in cross-border smuggling activities.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully dismantled a module engaged in heroin and illegal arms supply.
Authorities recovered 2.1 kg heroin along with seven sophisticated pistols during the operation.
Accused With Criminal Background Arrested
Police identified the arrested accused as Khush Kumar alias Bholu (26), a resident of Gurwali Gate in Amritsar.
Officials stated that the accused already faces multiple criminal cases under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and snatching-related offences.
Therefore, police considered him a high-risk operative in the smuggling network.
Foreign Links and Drone Supply Route Revealed
According to preliminary investigation, the accused maintained contact with foreign-based smugglers through virtual numbers.
Furthermore, police revealed that smugglers delivered heroin and weapons via drones across the border.
After the consignments reached India, they further distributed them to local criminal elements.
As a result, the network posed a serious threat to internal security.
Sophisticated Weapons Recovered
During interrogation, police recovered seven advanced pistols from the accused.
The seized weapons include pistols manufactured in Turkey, Italy, China, Austria, and other countries.
These weapons include 9MM and .30 bore categories, indicating a highly organized arms supply chain.
In addition, authorities believe these weapons were intended for distribution among criminal gangs.
Police Prevent Major Criminal Activity
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the operation was intelligence-based and carefully planned.
Initially, police recovered heroin and drug and arms smuggling module from the accused. Later, sustained interrogation led to the recovery of illegal weapons.
Therefore, timely police action prevented the circulation of arms among criminal networks.
FIR Registered and Investigation Continues
Police registered FIR No. 60 dated 12-05-2026 at Police Station C-Division, Amritsar under Section 21-C of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
Moreover, investigators are now working to identify forward and backward linkages of the smuggling network.
Authorities also aim to trace other associates involved in the cross-border supply chain.
