Shimla Police Expose Chandigarh-Amritsar Drug Links

Shimla (Kameshwar Shrama ): The Chandigarh-Amritsar Drug Links Exposed by Shimla Police operation has uncovered a major interstate drug trafficking network connected to Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla Police arrested two key drug suppliers from Chandigarh and Amritsar during a large anti-drug crackdown. ASP Shimla (Headquarters) Abhishek shared the details during a press briefing.

According to police officials, the operation targeted the growing Chitta supply chain operating across several states.

Shimla Police Intensify Crackdown on Drug Trade

ASP Abhishek said Shimla Police is conducting an aggressive campaign against narcotics smuggling across the district.

The main aim of the operation is to destroy the entire interstate drug supply network. As part of the campaign, police registered a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Dhalli Police Station on May 13, 2026.

Police arrested Nikhil Thakur and Sulabh Thapa in the case and recovered around 11 grams of Chitta from them.

Digital Evidence Reveals Chandigarh Connection

During the investigation, police teams carefully analyzed digital evidence, backward linkages, and financial transactions.

Consequently, investigators identified Chandigarh resident Akash as the main supplier in the case. After confirming the evidence, the Dhalli Police team arrested him from Chandigarh on May 15.

The Chandigarh-Amritsar Drug Links investigation revealed strong interstate connections linked to organized drug trafficking.

Amritsar Supplier Arrested in Separate NDPS Case

In another NDPS case registered at Rampur Police Station, police recovered 9 grams of Chitta and used disposable syringes from three accused persons.

Further investigation and mobile data analysis revealed that the supply originated from Amritsar resident Amandeep Singh.

Following the evidence trail, the Kumarsain Police team arrested Amandeep Singh from Amritsar on May 15.

Shimla Police Dismantle 29 Interstate Drug Networks

ASP Abhishek said Shimla Police has significantly strengthened NDPS investigations during 2026.

Moreover, Shimla Police dismantled 29 interstate drug networks linked to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and other states.
